How I decide What Makes The Best Nootropics

There are a number of things that I look for when recommending a Nootropic. I look at the ingredients to make sure they are effective and safe. Pricing is also important, you don’t want to be paying too much. You will often find many websites reviewing the same products, even more so if they are decent products.

I limit the amount of products that I recommend, some are simply just not very good. All my reviews and recommendations are based on factual information. I do however try and use the product where possible. As well as share how I recommend these products, to show that I generally care about what nootropic you use. I want you to be able to get the results you are looking for.

Ingredients

Not all nootropic supplements are made equally. Some use either poor quality ingredients or simply not enough. Its very easy to tell if a product is going to be any good, based on what ingredients they use.

Companies that are just trying to take your money will use low quality ingredients. This is usually because they are cheaper and therefore they make more profit. These companies will also try and save money by not putting the right dosage of the key ingredients. Basically poor quality ingredients or low dosages, means very little results (if any!)

NOTE: Watch out for proprietary blends…

Some companies will not actually list the ingredients or the amounts. Many of these hide their ingredient list behind a proprietary blend. Avoid these supplements! If they are not willing to show the ingredients then there is a reason why! Usually they are poor quality.

Below are some of the common ingredients found in Nootropics. These ingredients are proven to work. If they have a number of these ingredients in, there’s a good chance it will be a decent supplement.

Alpha GPC

Alpha GPC is a well respected ingredient as it helps increase the amount of Acetylcholine. Increasing the chemical messages being sent to the brain. It’s actually the Acetylcholine that helps improve brain function, concentration and increase memory.

Huperzine A

Huperzine A prevents levels of acetylcholine form decreasing. It in turn leads to helping your concentration, whilst helping with memory retention. Many studies have been done on Huperzine A to prove its effectiveness.

Cats Claw

Cat’s Claw is jam packed full of antioxidants and this gives it neuroprotective benefits. Your body is able to naturally repair damaged cells, because of these antioxidants. Usually people suffering from damaged cells result in memory loss, struggle to hold concentration and ability to retain information.

Bacopa

Bacosides are compounds that are said to help promote new nerve growth. Whilst also repairing neurons that were previously damaged. Bacosides can be found within Bacopa. Your brain will be able to communicate better and improve overall mental performance.

L-Theanine

Found in both green and black tea, L-theanine helps you to become more relaxed. Stimulating neurotransmitters in the brain to help relieve stress. At the same time it does also help to promote alertness.

L-Tyrosine

L-tyrosine aids in mental alertness and focus. This is due to it being able to create dopamine and noradrenaline. Ideal for when in a stressful situation but still need to remain calm, during an exam, job interview or workout etc.

Oat Straw

Oat Straw aids in improving alertness and helping you feel more awake. It does this by increasing blood flow to the brain. Also known as Avena Sativa, it controls inflammation in the artery walls by increasing the alpha-2 waves.

Citicoline

Studies have shown to help balance mood levels, increase memory whilst helping you to retain knowledge. Experience your brain becoming more energized and be able to concentrate on the tasks at hand easier. Using for a longer period can also help prevent age cognitive issues.

Lion’s Mane

Many nootropics often have Lion’s Mane in them, due to the amount of studies done on them. This mushroom has been proven to help with cognitive function, whilst helping balance mood levels.

Pterostilbene

A key ingredient to help with brain function and reduce the effects on the brain from aging. Years of research has been done on Pterostilbene to show that it helps with cognitive and mood levels.

Price

One thing you want to consider is the price. More often than not, most people will go for the cheapest price. This is not always going to be the best way about it. The cheapest does not always mean that you are going to get a decent product. High quality products do tend to cost more for manufactures to produce. If you are looking for a very effective product, you need to be prepared to spend a little money.

NOTE: Avoid Nootropics Free Trials

You have not doubt seem a number of free trials popping up. You fill out your details, pay shipping and get a free trial. Sounds great right? Wrong! These companies will usually re-bill your card automatically. Its also then fairly hard to cancel the cards and can often end up costing hundreds of dollars. Worst of all, these products don’t usually work anyway!
